Private Transfer from Venice to Ravenna Cruise Port — Everything You Need to Know
If you are sailing from Ravenna and flying into Venice, the transfer between the two is one of the most important journeys you will make. Ravenna's cruise terminal sits at Porto Corsini, approximately 144 kilometres south of Venice along the Adriatic coast. The drive takes between two and a half and three hours depending on traffic. The terminal itself is 15 kilometres from Ravenna city centre — a further 20 minutes by road — so simply reaching Ravenna is not enough. You need to plan the final leg too.
Getting Your Bearings: The Geography
Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) to Ravenna Porto Corsini cruise terminal is approximately 122 kilometres by road. There is no direct motorway, and traffic on embarkation days can be significant. Most passengers flying into Venice will need to be on the road by mid-morning at the latest to allow comfortable time before boarding.
Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ) is the other main gateway. It sits approximately 85 kilometres from Porto Corsini — around 75 to 90 minutes by road — and is often the more convenient option for passengers whose itinerary allows them to fly into Bologna rather than Venice.
Your Transfer Options Compared
Public bus: A bus service operates from Venice's Port San Basilio to Ravenna. The journey takes around two hours and 45 minutes and costs approximately €19. There is generally one departure per day, so timing must be planned carefully. This option does not serve the cruise terminal directly — you will still need a taxi or shuttle for the final 15 kilometres.
Train: You can travel from Venice Santa Lucia station to Ravenna by train, changing at Ferrara or Bologna. The rail journey takes approximately two to two and a half hours. Tickets start at around €25 per adult. From Ravenna station, the cruise terminal is a further 15 kilometres — pre-book a taxi in advance, as availability on busy embarkation mornings is not guaranteed.
Cruise line shuttle: Some lines including Royal Caribbean offer shuttle buses from Venice Marco Polo Airport and from Tronchetto in Venice to the Ravenna terminal. These run on fixed schedules, carry groups, and typically cost around €40 to €45 per person. They offer no flexibility if your flight is delayed.
Private transfer: A private transfer collects you from your Venice hotel, apartment, or directly from Marco Polo Airport and drives you to the terminal entrance — no changes, no connections, no shared coaches. Your driver tracks your flight, handles your luggage, and delivers you directly to Porto Corsini Ravenna. Journey time is the same (2.5 to 3 hours) as any other road option, but the experience is entirely different. For passengers who want to begin or end their holiday the moment they leave Venice, this is the most practical choice.
A Note on the Water Taxi
Ravenna is not connected to Venice by water — the journey is overland. However, if you are staying in Venice before your cruise, a private water taxi to Piazzale Roma or Marco Polo Airport is an elegant way to begin the transfer. Your driver can coordinate the land and water legs as a single seamless journey.
